Itinerary

Day 01 :
Surabaya - Sewu waterfalls - Village near Bromo

The driver will pick you up at 5 AM from the airport, train station, or your hotel. The earlier, the better, as it takes 4 to 5 hours to drive to the Tumpak Sewu area, depending on the traffic. Once you arrive at the parking area, you will start your hike with a local guide along an uneven path. It's a 10-minute walk to the panoramic viewpoint.

We recommend wearing water shoes because it can be slippery. You can also rent water shoes in the area. Enjoy the fresh air as you take in the full view of the curtain-shaped waterfall, also known as the mini Niagara. Be prepared to get wet! Please note that swimming is not allowed as there are only small puddles.

Watch your step as you hike down to the bottom, and maintain a strong grip on the bamboo railing. The water flowing over the rocky stairs makes the descent slippery. You'll be mesmerized standing at the bottom, seeing the grandeur of the waterfall.

Follow the small river stream for a 5-minute walk to find Tetes Cave. "Tetes" means water drops from the ceiling, and the cave is filled with fascinating stalagmites. When you're ready to leave, head back to your car, where our driver will be waiting to take you to Cemoro Lawang, a village near Mt. Bromo inhabited by the Tengger tribe. If the weather is clear and you feel up to it, take a walk around and choose your spot to watch the sunset over Mt. Bromo—it's a perfect way to end the day. Don't forget to get a good rest, as the next day will start early.

Day 02 :
Bromo Sunrise Jeep adventure - Surabaya

Be sure to bundle up, as the temperature can drop to between 0-10 degrees Celsius. A 4WD Jeep will pick you up at 3 AM from the lobby. Once parked, it's just a 5-minute walk to the viewpoint. While waiting for the sunrise, enjoy a hot coffee or tea with local snacks at a nearby warung. The sunrise is around 5 AM, so make sure to find a good spot beforehand.

The moon-like landscape of gray volcanic sand will leave you in awe as you stand above the clouds. You can even catch a glimpse of Mt. Semeru behind Mt. Bromo. Once the sun is up, head back to your jeep and drive down to the crater. Walk across the sea of sand to Luhur Poten Temple, which is only open during local traditional ceremonies. If you're lucky, you might see locals praying at the temple.

Standing at 2,329 meters, Mt. Bromo is an easy hike thanks to its staircases. Walk around the crater rim to take in the views of other mountains. Make the most of your time there.

Afterward, return to your hotel for a refreshing shower and breakfast before checking out and heading back to Surabaya. The drive takes about 3 hours, Ensure you're not in a rush for any flights or other plans.
