Mt. Bromo - 2392 m tall and not the highest at all - is one of three volcanoes in an ancient caldera, that stretches 10 km across. Only Mt. Bromo's cone is active. It stands in a sea of ashen volcanic sand, surrounded by the towering cliffs of the crater’s edge.

A Jeep will pick you up at 05:00 at your hotel in Malang. The sun just squesks through.
First on your list is a visit to Jago temple in Tumpang. This small temple was constructed between 1275 and 1300. It is believed to be the burial place of King Wisnuwardhana, the fourth king of the Singosari kingdom.
Then your tour will continue to Pelangi waterfall, just within the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park's borders. Pelangi means rainbow. The rainbow will show on sunny days.
Once back at your Jeep the savanna is next.... It will be a short drive. Stop in the magnificent savanna in the caldera. Take a small walk if you please. Search for the so called Teletubbies Hills. Feel the amazing landscape.
Continue to the sea of black ashen volcanic sand. You will have to cross this sea in the caldera as well to get near mount Bromo.
The Jeep will park near Luhur Poten temple. This Hindu temple still actively used by the Tengger people living near mount Bromo. During several important ceremonies, people from all over Indonesia - and even the world - travel to Bromo to attend the rite.
Bromo is an active volcano. It only takes 45 min to hike to the crater rim. Take your time in this superb moonlike greyish-grey landscape.
Last but not least is the viewpoint at mount Pananjakan. One of the highest viewpoints in the area. The weather conditions determine the scenery.
Meet your driver when ready. It will be getting dark, time to head back to Malang.
