The night train will deliver you in Malang in about 7 hours. You will arrive around 08:00 in the morning. This grants you a day of exploration in Malang. You will be picked up at the train station and brought conveniently to your hotel.
You can explore Malang on foot. When we have some local students doing their internship at Smartine Indonesia Travel, you could go guided. To mention a few interesting spots to visit in Malang: Kampong Warna-Warni (also known as Jodipan), Chinese temple, the alun-alun, Toko Oen, bird and flower market, roundabout Tugu, pasar besar, Ijen Boulevard.... Optional you can choose a cycling tour, either through Malang city or the village land surrounding this superb - but not with tourists overflown - city.

As there is a lot to do in and around Malang, you could choose to visit one of the mentioned suggestions before arriving in Cemara Lawang village. If you have any other suggestion, feel free to contact us. Our favorites in Lawang village are the water source Krabyakan as well as Wonosari tea plantation. The Botanical Garden in Puwodadi holds an incredible amount of species of all kinds of plants, trees and flowers. The rice terraces at the slopes of the volcanic range Arjuno-Welirang are astonishing and Safari Park Prigen suits families. One can find the Madakaripura waterfalls about 1 hour driving before Cemara Lawang village.
After these refreshing moments, your travel continues to Cemara Lawang village. If you arrive before the evening falls, you can see the sunset over mount Bromo and its area.

It will be early morning.... At 03:00 your local Jeep is waiting for you. Depending on local conditions, you will depart to one of the viewpoints north of mount Bromo. The landscape will change it colors while the sun is rising. Once the sun has brightend the day, you will descend to the volcanic black Sea of Sand. The black Sea of Sand is a big part of the dramatic volcanic landscape. Your Jeep will park near Luhur Poten temple, from where it is a 45 min walk one way to the crater of volcano Bromo.
When back at the Jeep, you will be driven back to your hotel to have breakfast, and a refreshing shower before checking out. You will be heading to Surabaya to catch your flight to Denpasar, Bali. Several Garuda flights depart after 15:00, with the latest at 18:40.
