From Surabaya or Malang via the Madakaripura Waterfalls to Cemara Lawang village
Madakaripura Waterfalls - Cemara Lawang village
After breakfast see a bit of Malang's well known spots; monument Tugu at the round alun-alun, the town hall, and the bird and flower market. The bird market is really something more than just an ordinary bird market. Take your time, before driving to the temple Singosari, just an hour from Malang. The temple Sumberawan is also worth a visit before going to the tea plantation Wonosari. You can have lunch here as well (not included in the price) or on the way to Mt. Bromo. You will arrive in the afternoon in the village Cemara Lawang. You have some spare time left in which you can explore the Tengger area.

It is early day today. Drink a refreshing cup of coffee or tea before departure to Mt. Pananjakan around 03:30. A 4WD Jeep needs just 40 minutes to get near the top of Mt. Pananjakan, but the last part you will have to walk. Mt. Pananjakan is one of the highest viewpoints in the area to see the sunrise over Mt. Bromo and the area. On public holidays and during weekends it can get really crowded at Mt. Pananjakan. You can discuss your options with the driver, who will know the situation locally.
Once the sun has risen you will descend - by car - to the mythical black Sea of Sand, which you have to cross before you can climb Bromo's crater. Then it still will be a 45 minutes walk (one way) to the crater rim. Enjoy the untouched landscape.
Once back at your Jeep, you will be driven back to your hotel to freshen up, to have breakfast and to check out. Your next destination is Bondowoso city. The winding road via Arak-Arak hill will invite you to stretch your legs and if hungry to have lunch (not included). Late afternoon you will check in at your hotel. If you are not too tired you can have a swim, or explore Bondowoso city. Otherwise, just enjoy your hotel.

At 45 o'clock in the morning you will depart to Paltuding, the starting point of your hike. In about 1,5 hours you conquer the 3 km to the top of Mt. Ijen. During your hike you will already meet the famous miners, who bring sulphur down the slopes of Mt. Ijen to the sulphur weighing area just behind the parking area. Sulphur miners have one of the hardest jobs in the world as working conditions are harsh and the loads they carry on their shoulders weigh up to 100 kg.
We will meet you back at the car when you are ready to depart. In about 1,5 hours you will drive via Licin to Ketapang to take the ferry to Bali. It will take about 1 hour to cross the Bali Strait. In Gilimanuk - the harbour in Bali - you will be picked up by your driver. You will need another hour to get to your hotel in Pemuteran, a village near the beach.

Kubuku Ecolodge and Resto - Kubuku means little home. The hotel has 17 rooms, all have either a mountain view or a garden view. All kinds of fruit trees grow in the garden. A spa is available for some relaxation.
