Sewu waterfalls and Kampong Jodipan

Tumpak Sewu is Javanese for 'a thousand waterfalls'. It might be one of East Java’s most rewarding waterfalls to visit. However, the path to the waterfall is challenging. On route back to Malang, you can visit the colourful kampong Jodipan. Impressive murals colour your day.

Itinerary: Sewu waterfalls & Kampong Jodipan / 1-day tour

Tumpak Sewu is a gem... The falls form a curtain of water flowing from the cliffs. It is absolutely awesome, even awesomer when a rainbow shows.
Jodipan is another gem. Students, local artists, and a paint producer worked together. Once a slump, now a tourist attraction.

Stunning Sewu waterfalls and the colourful kampong Jodipan

As both colours and temperatures are most fresh in the morning, we suggest departing at 05:00. But, if you prefer maybe 07:00 or 09:00, just let me know. It takes about 2 hours to get to the parking lot of Tumpak Sewu, the last part is a winding road through the mountains. In case you depart early, ask at your hotel to prepare a breakfast box.
Once the car parked, you will be hiking together with a local guide. The road isn't well paved and at the bamboo stairs, you might need some help to climb the 15 meters down to get near the waterfall. Take your time at the viewpoint.
Once back in the car, you will return to Malang city. One of Malang's highlights is Kampong Jodipan. When you arrived by train, you most probably already got a glimpse of it. Kampong Jodipan is also known under the name kampong Warna-warni. It was a project to improve the kampong's performance. In addition to the increased awareness of sanitation, the tourists that visit this village also have an impact on people's economy.
In the afternoon, you will be dropped off at your hotel.
