The sparsely populated areas around Mt. Bromo is a little forgotten region.

Very simple, plain and basic: Smartine Indonesia Travel involves local people in its tours by visiting them and hiring them for several parts of our tours. Besides we reserve a certain percentage of its profit for three main projects. You can "visit" the projects. But, take a deeper look in the projects that we support before you decide. We support as long as - according to us - we can check the project's integrity and as long as it is needed.

Simple because we donate a certain amount of every tour that is booked via Smartine Indonesia Travel - including Bromo.co.id and IjenPlateau.com. Plain because there are no middle men who need to get a wage as well. Basic as it is really fundamental help that we provide, such as a meal, a shelter, and schooling. This kind of support will only end when Indonesia is capable of introducing, maintaining and regulating a well organized and trustworthy social care system.

Donations collected for the three projects in IDR (x 1000) - since July 2016

Old woman - IndonesiaMany stories to tell, many people to help. "A dime for a demand" helps those in need at this right moment. A long term sustainable solution is not (yet) within reach, but the needs can't wait. Think about a meal, cash to buy a school uniform, and about on old women without children to support her.

Foundation 'Wees een Kind' is run by the family Bachdim in The Netherlands. They have an orphanage in Malang, which in the long run should become self-supportive as an homestay is attached to the orphanage. The maximum number of "orphans" is set at 16, to provide the best care possible under the circumstances, that is both socially and financially.

Klojen is a kampong behind the market Klojen, just a 5 minutes walk from Malang's train station. It is actually a very tiny area in which many people live who have difficulties to have a dignified life. Mainly old people who can't change their situation and children of whom one of the parents is experiencing some difficulties or passed away are those in need. We help with both goods and donations. If you wish to see the kampong and meet the people, please contact us.

Kampong Suropati is nearby kampong Klojen. Just seperated from Kampong Klojen by the main road. You can found Kampong Suropati just behind and in front of our office at Jl. Suropati no. 27. Life hidden in the kampong doesn't reveal its secrets. Many small houses, with just one room and no bathroom. Single parents, old people... Ask if you would like to meet some of the citizens. Make their day. Give them a happy smile on their face by just being friendly.

Mr. Bang T. organized some locals in the group Art's Pala Volunteer. He strives together with his friends to improve the living conditions of the local Tengger people living in the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park and to conserve nature.
